Studio MAPPA announced in late March 2021 on Twitter and other forms of social media that they are working on a feature film called Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This announcement was complemented by a 30sec trailer that can be found on TOHO Animation’s youtube channel. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will not be taking the seasonal bridge approach used by previous hit anime of late. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie will be a prequel to the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, which is based on the original manga Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High.
This story in particular revolves around a few students of Jujutsu High. Familiar characters will include Satoru Gojo, Maki Zenin, Toge Insumaki, Panda, and Suguru Geto. They are all connected to a new main character named Yutu Okkotsu.
Yuta Okkotsu is tormented by the spirit of a childhood friend. This spirit becomes cursed and manifests itself as a demonic bodyguard. After being apprehended by Jujutsu sorcerers, Gojo offers Yuta a spot at Jujutsu High. From there, the story continues as viewers will gain a broader view into happenings in Jujutsu High. They also get more of a glimpse into some earlier developments of known Jujutsu characters.
